Safe Technology
The Internet Ticketing website has security measures in place to protect the customer from loss, misuse and alteration to the information under our control. When you purchase online, credit card purchases are generally protected against fraud by law, and your liability is limited. Check with your credit card company for details. Be aware that improvements in technology have significantly decreased chances of Internet credit card fraud. All Internet transactions are checked via a secure payment gateway system that prevents the fraudulent or misuse of credit cards.

Note: This website is built using frames. Therefore, the secure Gold lock does not appear at the bottom of your browser, nor does the address field change the secure https:// url. Hoyts cinemas & movies screening at Hoyts:
Why do we have ratings?

Ratings are given to films to make it easier for audiences to judge which films they should watch. (example: Parents can be confident that they child will not be scared or disturbed when they watch a film rated (G) for general viewing). Here are a list of all film ratings.

What is the difference between (M) and (MA)15+?
The M (Mature) classification is an advisory category. Films and computer games with this classification are recommended for mature audiences aged 15 years and over. However, children under 15 are not legally prohibited from attending or hiring films (including videos and DVDs) or computer games with this classification.

MA15+ (Mature Accompanied) classification is a legally restricted category. Material classified MA15+ deals with issues or contains depictions that require a mature perspective. Persons under 15 cannot view or hire films or computer games classified MA15+ unless in the company of a parent or adult guardian.

What does it mean when a movie is advertised as 'No Free Offers / No Discount Offers'?
Some movies will be advertised in the first weeks of release as No Free Offers Accepted, No Discount Offers Accepted or No Free or Discount Offers Accepted. During this period complimentary passes or price based discount coupons issued by Hoyts cannot be used. After several weeks of release this restriction is often removed and Free or Discount Offers can be used.

Why does a movie not start at the advertised time?
The advertised time indicates the commencement of the actual 'session' rather than the main feature. This gives cinemas the opportunity to present advertising and 'trailers' for upcoming films to keep our patrons informed of upcoming releases. It also ensures that patrons can secure their tickets, refreshments and seats before the main feature starts.

Why is my local Hoyts not screening a film that I know has been released?
Unfortunately we as exhibitors get little say in when and where we can screen certain films. The film distributors decide how "wide" they want to release each film and decide which cinemas they will allow us to screen the film at.

Where can I buy Hoyts Super Saver or Gift Vouchers?
You can purchase Hoyts Super Saver, Hoyts Gift Vouchers or La Premiere Gift Certificates at the box office of your local Hoyts cinemas or online at our secure Hoyts Store.

Do you have special sessions for mothers and their babies?
Hoyts cinemas have dedicated sessions for Mums and Bubs. Sessions are on the first Thursday of every month and the film screened is chosen by the cinema manager. For a list of dates and participating locations visit our Mums and Bubs page.

What's the song used in the Hoyts brand advertisement?
The song is 'Wonderful Life' by Tina Cousins.

Corporate:
What is the difference between a Distributor and an Exhibitor?
Film distributors in Australia often represent their studio in the US and own the rights for the films distribution. They are responsible for negotiating film rental terms with exhibitors, arranging release dates, providing prints and promoting the movie. In Australia the main distributors are Hoyts Distribution, Roadshow Distribution, Columbia Tri-Star, Twentieth Century Fox, United International Pictures and Buena Vista International.

An exhibitor is a company / person that owns cinema/s and rents first release films from the distributors to screen in their theatres. Cinema exhibition represents a major source of revenue for film studios and distributors and accordingly, the success of a film at the box office is crucial to the overall return to the film studio and distributor.
